Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies have arrested a Springhill man for drinking a soda boosted with prescription drugs.
Michael Wayne Sexton, 45, of the 300 block of Moore Street, is charged with possession of CDS. Sch. III (Lortab) and CDS Sch. IV (Soma).
Webster Parish Chief Deputy Bobby Igo, Jr., said Sexton was the passenger in a vehicle stopped by Community Action Directed Patrol deputies Bobby Igo, III, Joel Thomas and Capt. Robert Hayden on Thursday.
"The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation – improper lane usage – on Highway 371 at Highway 160," Igo said. "The female driver told deputies she was weaving because she was lighting a cigarette."
Deputies reportedly made contact with Sexton who was allegedly holding a 12-ounce can of soda.
"The deputy could see a pill floating in plain view," Igo said. "So, he took the can and advised both of their rights. Then he asked Sexton what was floating in the can and Sexton said Soma pills and a Lortab."
Igo said the deputy emptied the can and located three suspected Soma pills and half of a suspect Lortab.
"Sexton told deputies the pills belonged to him," Igo said. "He was placed in custody and transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center."
Igo said the unidentified female driver was not charged.
