Woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend with steak knife

Calling the police on her boyfriend backfired on a local woman, and she ended up as the one behind bars.

Tikandis Edwards, 23, of the 500 block of South Street, is charged with aggravated second degree battery after stabbing her boyfriend with a steak knife.

According to Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper, on January 30 officers were dispatched to a residence on South Street in reference to a missing purse.

"Ofc. Ben Allen and Off. Ben Gray made contact with the complainant, and she said that Marquez Green – her boyfriend – had taken her purse," Cropper said. "Officers noticed that Edwards' left hand had blood on it from a laceration between her thumb and index finger."

Edwards reportedly claimed she did not know how she received the cut.

"She did say she and Green had gotten into an argument that became physical," said the chief. "She said Green hit her in the face and pushed her. Then she said she picked up a fork and started swinging at Green."

Green was located by officers at a residence in the 900 block of East Street.

"He was interviewed and told officers there was an argument between the two that became physical," Cropper said. "He indicated that Edwards picked up a steak knife and pushed it into his right arm."

According to reports, Green said he then pushed Edwards to the couch, grabbed her hand with the knife in it and struck her hand on the floor to dislodge the knife.

"Green said the knife came loose so he stuck it in the floor and bent the blade on it and then placed it in the sink," Cropper said. "Mr. Green had a pretty good stab wound – two to three inches deep – in his upper right arm, so officers took him to the hospital to have it treated."

Marquez Green, 26, of the 600 block of Stone Street, was reportedly arrested on misdemeanor domestic abuse battery.

"He bonded out from the police department," Cropper said.
