Doctor to speak at chamber event

Officials with the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce Dr. Phillip Rozeman will be the featured speaker during the annual membership banquet in February.

Rozeman, who is the president and a founding physician of Cardiovascular Consultants, will speak about "A Changing World: The Business Community Leads."

He is a native of Shreveport and has been a practicing cardiologist in northwest Louisiana since 1984. Rozeman has extensive experience and expertise in the field of invasive cardiology – being one of the pioneers of coronary angioplasty, stenting procedures and dual chamber pacer implantations in this area.

Rozeman is active in numerous civic and professional organizations with special focus on healthcare and education improvement in Louisiana.

He took a leadership role in helping establish the first secondary smoke ordinance in Louisiana and, as Medical Director of Northwest Louisiana Red Cross, he led the effort to supply medical services to evacuees of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

For this work, he was honored by the American Lung Association of Louisiana with the 2006 Louisiana "Breath of Life" Award and American Cancer Society "Distinguished Service Award."

Rozeman's involvement in education includes founding the regional education foundation Alliance for Education to increase community involvement in public education in northwest Louisiana.

For his work in education improvement, he has received several honors including Distinguished Partner in Education from the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Association of Educators "Friend of Education Award," the Blue Cross of Louisiana "Angel Award," and the annual Cornerstone Award of the Acadiana United Way.

The annual Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce membership banquet is slated for Thursday, February 21. RSVPs are due to the Chamber office by February 5.

Doors will open at the Minden Civic Center at 6:15 p.m. with the program beginning at 7 p.m. Sponsorships are still available by calling the chamber office.
