JONESBORO—The Lakeside Warriors fell 70-51 to Jonesboro-Hodge Tuesday night as they opened their district schedule.
"It's always tough to go to Jonesboro," Lakeside head coach Jason Gould said. "They're always tough at home and it's a great basketball environment."
The game was physical and that took a toll on the Warriors.
"The referees let them play physical, and that's what happened tonight," he said. "It took us the whole first half to get use to the physical play, and by the time we adjusted in the second half, it was too late."
The Tigers built a big halftime lead and then cruised in the second half.
"The kids did all they could," Gould said. "They battled the whole way. We had some bright spots and we're working hard to get better. We've got some tough kids and they work hard."
Lance Taylor led the team with 21 points and Deandre Shehee added 10 points including three three-pointers. Jamarion Teal dropped in 11 points and had nine rebounds.
