Funeral services will be held for Margaret Moreland Brown, 79, at the Holly Springs Baptist Church, 854 Hwy. 79, Homer, on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andy Prince, officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th St., Homer on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 18, 1933 in the Homer Oilfield to Percy Moody Moreland and Lois O'Rear Moreland. She was a loyal member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church, Athens Garden Club and the Mildred Bevill Music Club and was retired from the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's office with over 20 years of service. She entered into rest Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Homer Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her parents; also one daughter, Donna Kay Brown Bass and one brother, Robert Moreland.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, J.L. "Leo" Brown; daughter, Debra Brown Best and husband, Edward; two grandchildren, Eddie Leo Best and Joshua Jordan Best, all of Minden; three cousins, Sally Gryder and husband, Dale of Homer, Billie Jo Jarvis and husband, Dee of Jackson, MS, and Robbie Ponseigo and husband, Joe of Shreveport; niece, Jennifer Guin and husband, Lloyd of North Carolina and her nephew, Robert Moreland of New York.
Pallbearers will be Harold Jones, David Crump, Danny Lee, Sheriff Ken Bailey, Buddy Pitman and Bill Cross.
