A routine Probation and Parole (P&P) check bloomed into the arrest of two residents of a local apartment complex.
Curt Lary, 22, of 1401 Lewisville Road, was arrested on possession of CDS Sch. I marijuana and a P&P violation.
Alec Thornton, 23, of 1401 Lewisville Road, was arrested on an outstanding Probation and Parole warrant.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said that around 4 p.m. Thursday, officers first class Danny Turner, Chase Wimberly and Shawn Jenkins responded when P&P agents contacted the department requesting assistance.
"Agent Blair Lebel told officers that her office was conducting a routine probation check on the residents of the apartment and had located a marijuana plant under a glow light in a closet," Cropper said. "Thornton, the resident at the home at the time of the check, told officers that the marijuana plant belonged to his roommate (Lary), and that he (Thornton) had no knowledge of it being in the closet."
Officers reportedly contacted Lary by telephone and instructed him to come to the police department.
"As officers were enroute to the police department, Turner observed Lary traveling north on Lewisville Road," Cropper said. "Turner conducted a traffic stop on Lary, advised him of his Miranda Rights and questioned him about the marijuana plant."
Lary allegedly indicated the plant belonged to him and Thornton had no knowledge of the plant being in Lary's closet.
Both subjects were booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
The marijuana plant was taken into evidence.
