A bit of inconvenience for drivers will soon make a more pleasant trip on U.S. Highway 80 between Minden and Dixie Inn.
Dixie Inn Police Chief Jim Edwards said road work will begin Wednesday to overlay the roadway between the edge of the Minden city limits through his town to the McIntyre Bridge.
"Traffic will be kind of congested," Edwards said.
Madden Contracting will be overlaying the road and widening a portion of it, putting in a middle turn lane near Thirsty's liquor store.
"They are also going to do some work at the intersection in Dixie Inn," Edwards said.
Edwards said the work should last about a month, and while Hwy. 80 won't be closed, it will be down to one lane in places.
"People might want to consider taking a different route, since it will be so congested through there," he said. "We're pretty happy about this. That turn lane is really going to help. We have a lot of accidents right there."
