A Child of God

Have you ever had somebody you loved and respected very much teach you a lesson that you still remember to this day? I have. My lesson giver was my 6th grade teacher Ms. Flora Colvin. This was back in Dubach, Louisiana in the 60's before the all-white schools had fully integrated with the all-black Hopewell schools.

I guess you could best describe what we had going then as a social experiment. The plan that year was to mix just a few students from Hopewell in with our students. I'm sure now that the idea was to see if we could get along on a piecemeal basis and to lay the groundwork for full scale integration.
