A Haynesville man is in a Webster Parish jail on drug charges after Minden Police conducted a traffic stop for a minor offense.
Gregory Bailey, 45, of the 100 block of Pierce Lane, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of CDS Sch. III (Lortab) and cited for obstruction of view.
Police Chief Steve Cropper said Ofc. Chris Hammontree and Off. Ben Gray observed a vehicle on Homer Road with a broken windshield and with several items hanging from the rearview mirror.
"They conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Gregory Bailey and a passenger," Cropper said. "They asked for Bailey's driver's license and identification and ran a check on him. The check showed he had numerous drug charges so they asked for consent to search the vehicle and were given a signed consent waiver to search."
Cropper said officers located a Lortab tablet in a medicine bottle in Bailey's vehicle.
"In the backseat, they found an additional seven and a half Lortab tablets in a plastic bag which was inside the sock."
Cropper said officers checked with state Probation and Parole, and agents placed a verbal hold on Bailey.
The unidentified passenger was not charged.
