MAGNOLIA, AR. — The Lakeside cross-country teams took advantage of cool conditions to post many season best performances at the Southern Arkansas Mulerider Classic.
Enrique Soto ran a season best of 15:46 which leads the State of Louisiana. His winning time was over a minute faster than second place.
James Taylor finished fourth with a season-best 17:03. Riley Smith also posted a season-best at 18:30 which was good for 22nd. Another season-best was turned in by Cody Robinson (19:07) who finished in 27th place. Travis Walker ran a 19:30 for 40th place.
Team wise, The Warriors took third place behind Ruston and Atlanta High out of Texas.
In the junior high 1 1/4 mile race, Cody Robinson finished seventh, Alex Robles placed 13th, Joe Johnson took 14th, Ian Ruff finished 20th, Austin Moss was 24th, and John Watson finished in 26th place.
Leading the way for the ladies was Alissa Landers who finished third with a season-best time of 20:17 over the 5K course. Heather Schenck was 15th with a season-best of 22:05. Kately Collier once again showed great improvement with a season-best time of 22:50.
In the junior high division, Nancy Silva placed 11th, Brooke Walker was 12th, and Kea Sparza finished 13th over the 1 1/4 mile distance.
The Lakeside teams will next participate in one of the biggest high school meets in the South, The Chili Pepper Classic, at the University of Arkansas on Saturday, October 13th.
