Artist to host abstract art class

A unique artist, playing far outside the box, Rebecca Tyree is looking forward to sharing her art and enthusiasm by offering adult abstract art classes in May at City Art Works, 701 Main Street.

Tyree is known for re-inventing artistic expression through a multitude of materials.

Abstract I will include the introduction to basic fundamental of abstract painting, “along with large doses of fun,” Tyree said. The abstract I class will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 10 until 11:30 a.m.

Abstract II will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Cost for each abstract class is $25 or $40 for both.

“Abstract II classes will explore wider possibilities of adding texture, collage effects, washes, etc,”  Tyree said. “Abstract II takes art to the next level.”  

Students are asked to wear painting clothes and bring a plastic shoebox with their name on it.  All other supplies including paint and canvas will be supplied.  

Tyree will teach a wine glass painting class on Thursday, May 19 from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Supplies will be provided for a $25 registration fee. On May 24 from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m., she will teach a creating “gift card” class.  Cost will include all supplies and is $20.  

Tyree spent 28 years as a well-known Las Vegas artist and designer. She performed as a personal artist for many interesting people including celebrities and casino owners.

She met her  husband and gave up Las Vegas for a new home in Louisiana. Since arriving here, she has become involved in everything from interior design to unrivaled faux painting. Her artwork can be found in many places across the country.
