Eva Verdell Archer Betts

Funeral services for Eva Verdell Archer Betts were held today (Monday, Jan. 7, 2013) at 11 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Bill Ichter. Interment followed at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Eva was born Dec. 5, 1921 in Patmos, Arkansas and entered into rest Jan. 5, 2013 in Minden.

Her husband, Glenton Dorsey "Rusty" Betts and her best friends, A.L. and Betty Thompson where she will be buried side by side, preceded her in death.

She was a resident of Minden since 1949 and a member of First Baptist Church. Eva loved canning fruit and vegetables, especially sweet pickles, quilting king size quilts and donated one to St. Jude Telethon and was sold for hundreds of dollars, and loved her flowers and yard work and won yard of the month once, though not a member of the garden club.

She is survived by her son, Don Betts and wife, Nancy of Magnolia, Texas; sister, Evelyn Mozell A. Rider and husband, Warren of Cotton Valley; sisters-in-law, Effie Mae Archer of Hope, Arkansas, Lona Archer of Hope, Arkansas, Bridget Archer of Saratope, Arkansas; and step-brothers, Darrel Rogers and Royce Rogers of Patmos, Arkansas. Also she unofficially adopted and dearly loved four daughters of Betty and A.L. Thomason, Sue Martin and husband, Marty, Linda Wilson and husband, Dave, Shelby Barnette and husband, Lee and Patsy Hilburn and husband, Walter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
