Michael Bertaut, an official who has investigated healthcare reform at length, will be the guest speaker at the noon meeting of the Minden Lions Club Thursday.
Bertaut is a healthcare economist responsible for studying the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. He started tracking the legislation in early 2009, more than a year before it was passed. Since then, he has given close to 400 public presentations on the act to groups ranging from policy makers in Washington D.C. to local community groups.
Thursday, he will discuss how the act will change health insurance in Louisiana over the next three to five years and how businesses and individuals should prepare for it. The Minden Lions meet in the American Legion Hall on Pine Street.
