Man steals cart full of meat, police say

A Vivian man apparently thought he could get a very good deal on meat from the market of a local discount store, but his alleged shopping trip proved to be just a stopover on the way to the parish jail.

Michael Jerome Jacobs has been charged with theft of goods over $500 after he reportedly tried to walk out of the Minden Walmart Thursday with a buggy load of meat valued at more than $600, chief of police Steve Cropper said.
