Time in short order for chefs

Chefs and sponsors are still needed for Minden's Iron Chefs event hosted by Gibsland Bank and Trust, but time is running short for those interested in participating.

GBT and the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce will host the event on Sunday, July 31, and they are looking for area cooks to make it a success.

There is still time – but not much – to enter the event.

"We really want to showcase the cooking skills of local people," said Catherine Hunt, chamber representative. "If you can cook, or know someone who can, sign up. We are still looking for entrants and sponsors to help make this a successful event."

Chefs who sign up will serve their dishes from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Minden Civic Center. There is a $10 entry fee per person.

Blue Plate Sponsorships are available for $200 and provide marketing opportunities leading up to and throughout the event, multi-media coverage and a thank-you in the chamber's summer ROI, as well as the Minden Press Herald.

Tickets are $10 per person over the age of 12. Tickets and entry forms may be purchased or picked up at GBT, South Beach Tanning, the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce office or from a committee member.

Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Proceeds will be used to continue to enhance the chamber of commerce.

Entry forms need to be returned by July 25.

For questions, call Catherine Hunt at South Beach Tanning at 382-1786, Greg Lee of GBT at 371-9910 or the chamber office at 377-4240.
