Three women from Bienville Parish are in a Webster Parish jail after allegedly plowing a shoplifting path across northwest Louisiana that ended with their arrests in Minden.
Shilo Crane, 42, of the 1700 block of Beech Street, Arcadia, was arrested for theft of goods and illegal possession of stolen things.
Teniah Crane, 23, of the 1700 block of Beech Street, Arcadia, was arrested for theft of goods, illegal possession of stolen things and possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana).
Shannon Russell, 40, of the 2900 block of Ranson Street, Arcadia, was charged with three counts of theft of goods, resisting an officer, misrepresentation during booking, illegal possession of stolen things and as a fugitive from the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office and the Shreveport Police Department. A hold was placed on Russell through WPSO and SPD.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said that around 7 p.m. Monday, the police department received a call from a local retail store in reference to shoplifters inside the store.
"The person said it was three females and gave a description of the vehicle they were in," Cropper said. "Officers were dispatched to the store, but they were gone by the time they got there."
Cropper said Ofc. Danny Turner and Sgt. Wayne Young began driving through Minden, looking for the vehicle.
"They located the vehicle in the parking lot of another store," he said. "Turner approached the vehicle and two of the females were inside of it. Sgt. Young arrived at that time as the third female was exiting the store."
The women were reportedly detained for questioning and the chief said officers noticed several items inside the vehicle.
"The items were not in sacks and they still had the price tags and wrappings on them," Cropper said.
The chief said the women had been to a clothing store in Pierre Bossier Mall, where they had allegedly stolen merchandise totaling $170. From there, according to reports, they stole $400 worth of items from a sporting goods store in north Bossier City.
"Then, they went to a convenience store in Haughton where they stole a charger for an iPod," he said. "At that point and time, they came to Minden where they hit a clothing store on Homer Road for $220 worth of merchandise. After that, they went to an accessories' store where we got the call about them. When they left there, they went to a discount store where they were located in the parking lot."
Cropper said Russell's three counts of theft of goods stem from her admission of entering three stores and stealing the items while the other women waited in the vehicle.
Marijuana was reportedly located in Teniah Crane's purse by police.
