Warriors travel to Sterlington

The Lakeside Warriors will open their District 2-2A schedule with a game tonight at Sterlington High School in Monroe.

The Warriors are coming off a 30-14 win over Arcadia that improved their record to 3-2.

Sterlington (1-4) started the season with consecutive losses to Benton, Caldwell, Ouachita Christian and Mangham, but broke into the win column last week with an 18-14 road win over Oaks Grove.

Sterlington switched their offense to the split back veer from the flexbone last week, and ran the ball with authority against Oak Grove.

Junior running back Austin Haman came through with a breakout game, rushing 19 times for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Alex Edwards (73 carries, 286 yards, two touchdowns) leads the Panthers' balanced ground game.

Quarterback Taylor Lockwood has thrown for 329 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also averages 34.5 yards on 22 punts.

The Warriors will look to shut down the Sterlington offense, while attempting to keep getting running back Chris Lewis running room.

Last week, Lewis led Lakeside with 204 yards and three touchdowns and returned a punt 67 yards for another score.
This will be the last of five-straight road games for the Warriors.
