Robert Lee Hill, known to many as “Rimp” was ushered into the world on August 30, 1938 to the proud parents Curtis and Tessie Hill. Robert entered into eternal life on September 27, 2012 at Willis Knighton Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Robert was a graduate of Webster High School, Class 1958.
Robert entered into holy matrimony with his best friend and soul mate, Shirley Jones-Cosby on December 23, 2006.
Robert chose letting go to have victory over suffering. He had a long battle of suffering from Leukemia since 2005. Robert left this world with his wife Shirley at his side.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age. His Christian journey led him to Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Minden, Louisiana.
Robert sang in the choir, served on the deacon board, and had a true love for Sunday School. He lived life to the fullest, doing what he loved, singing and praising God. In his early years, Robert sang quartet.
“Rimp” had many hidden talents. He had a green thumb, so he loved gardening and planting. He loved animals, canning fruit, and fishing. He also loved to draw and sold several of his paintings. His wife loved to brag on the many things Robert could do.
He was employed for many years as a lifeguard at J.L. Jones Swimming Pool, food service at The University of California, Berkeley, truck driver for Frozen Food Express, lawn service for McInnis Brother and custodian for Great St. Paul Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his father: Curtis Hill; two brothers: Curtis Hill, Jr., and W.D. Hill; and sister: Cleodis.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Shirley Jones-Cosby-Hill; mother: Tessie Hill; sister: Ruby Jewel (Harry L.); biological and step-children: Sonya Hill, Shirley Renee Houston, Samantha Cosby, Rosalind and Carl Cosby; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, cousins, nephews and friends.
