Braviante "Pookie" Ferrell, 26, of the 500 block of Rural Road in Ringgold was arrested by Minden police over the weekend and charged with distribution of Sch. II (crack) cocaine and possession of CDS Sch. II (Lortab).
Police Chief Steve Cropper said for about two months his department has been investigating illegal narcotic activity in and around the Walter Lyons/Camp Street area.
"Due to the large amount of concern from citizens in the area, our narcotic officers began targeting and working this area of Minden," he said. "Since the initial calls began coming in, the department has made three prior arrests in this area with additional arrests pending."
Cropper said when officers Danny Turner, Chris Hammontree, Kenneth James and Sgt. Keith King had a warrant in hand, they began the search for Ferrell. They reportedly located the subject in the 200 block of Camp Street.
After the officers made contact with the suspect, he was reportedly arrested, advised of his Miranda rights and searched for officer safety.
During the pat-down, additional illegal narcotics (Lortab) were allegedly located on his person, along with $520.
"I would like to warn any individuals who are selling illegal narcotics in Minden that eventually the Minden Police Department will catch up to you," Cropper said.
Ferrell was transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is being held on a bond of $35,000.
