Mrs. Everett was born Nov. 17, 1927 in Spearsville to Claude and Georgia Seale Upshaw and passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 in Shreveport. Ruth met every challenge of her generation-from Hitler to Alzheimer's, convinced that faith in Christ would make everything that's right turn out well.
She was the perfect companion to her beloved husband, Rev. Kenneth Everett, and made the vow of her Biblical namesake her creed, "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God."
She sacrificed to make her home a fun and secure place for her children. The name "Mama Ruth" will always be magical to her grand- and great-grandchildren.
A model of uncommon grace and beauty, she made everyone in her presence feel special. Ruth was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by daughter, Janie Schroeder and husband, Dave of Allen, Texas; sons, Randel Everett and wife, Sheila of Midland, Texas; Neil Everett and wife, Debbie of Calhoun; Tim Everett and wife, Julie of Springhill, Tommy Everett and wife, Kim of Genoa, Arkansas; grandchildren, Sean Reed and wife, Lori, Cory Reed and wife, Lisa, Jeremy Everett and wife, Amy, Rachel Froom and husband, Eric, Matt Everett and wife, Sommer, Joshua Everett and wife, Raysa and Jonathon Everett, Zach Taylor, Hannah Everett, Lily Everett, Luke, Bailey and Kelli Everett; and three great-grandchildren, Lucas and Samuel Everett and Carter Reed; sisters, Larue Lockwood and husband, J.H. of Bastrop, Janet Horne of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Becky McCullough and husband, Mack of West. Monroe; brother, Coy Upshaw and wife, Fern of Bastrop, and a host of nieces and nephews.
