Members of the North Webster Drug Task Force, looking for a Springhill man, scored some marijuana and a way to smoke it at a local residence.
Jerry Brown, 47, of the 400 block of Patterson Street in Springhill, was arrested Monday on felony possession of CDS Sch. I (mariujana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“We had active warrants on Brown, but we actually went to the residence looking for someone else,” said Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd. “We didn’t find the other person, but we did find Brown, the marijuana and packs of rolling papers.”
Lynd, Springhill narcotics officer Ronald Wedgeworth, Springhill Sgt. Sal Gonzalez and Webster Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Shawn Baker went to the Patterson Street address to serve distribution warrants on Brown.
“After he (Brown) was placed in custody, he gave permission to search his residence for anyone else who might be there,” Wedgeworth said. “Laying in plain view was a Swiss Colony can on the table with green vegetation suspected to be marijuana and two packs of rolling papers inside the can.”
Brown was transported to the Springhill Police Department, advised of his Miranda rights and booked into the city jail. He was later transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. Bond was to be set by a judge later in the day.
“This was not the first time Brown has been arrested on drug charges, making this a felony arrest,” Lynd said.
