"We did a little better against North Webster than we did against Rayville," Lakeside head coach Terrence Quarles said. "We came on a bit a the end. We made a lot of mistakes, and there's a lot of things we need to correct this week."
North Webster head man Joey Pesses echoed Quarles' thoughts.
"It went well," he said. "We did some good things, but we also made some mistakes. We have a lot to work on. We made too many mental mistakes in both games and we're going to have to be a whole lot better this week."
Quarles said his team played a number of players in different positions as he and his staff continued to evaluate his talent.
"We moved the kids around and played a lot of younger kids in new positions," he said. "We're just trying to come together as a team. We kind of got a late start, not to make any excuses, but the other teams had scrimmages last week, and this was our first action."
Pesses thought Rayville and Lakeside gave his team a variety of looks offensively and defensively.
"Both teams were different, although they both ran the spread," he said. "Rayville had an exceptional amount of speed and a lot of size, they were huge up front. It was good for our guys to be able to go up against other teams instead of just beating up on ourselves."
Quarles say some good things from his team, and was anxious to get to work this week.
"We were, as a staff, pleased with our second and third string guys," he said. "They're young but they stepped in and played like they really wanted to be out there. We'll have a lot of work on this week. This was a chance to see how we matched up with someone else, and now we have some work to do. This week didn't count, but this week against Ringgold does."
Pesses and his team will work this week to eliminate mistakes and to get ready for their season-opener at Haynesville.
"We have to correct our mistakes this week in practice," he said. "We have to tackle better and we have to do a better job of holding on to the ball. We fumbled the ball too many times and we can't afford to that this week against Haynesville."
