Public school jamborees, Glenbrook plays game #2
This will be a big week for the Webster Parish high school football teams, as all four teams will be in action for the first time.
Saturday afternoon, the Minden High Crimson Tide will be taking part in the Jam at the Joe jamboree at Joe Aillet Stadium at Louisiana Tech in Ruston.
Friday night, the Glenbrook Apaches will travel to Rayville to play Riverfield Academy in a week two regular season match-up. On the same night, Lakeside and North Webster High Schools will be taking part in the Lakeside Jamboree in Sibley.
Minden High is back at the Jam at the Joe for the third time.
"We're excited about going back this year," Tide head coach Randy Peters said. "It's a great experience for the kids to play there at a college stadium on the turf. It will be good to get some work on the turf, because we'll be back on it for our first playing date against North DeSoto."
The Tide will kick things off with a noon game against Calvary Baptist. Jonesboro-Hodge and Haynesville will follow at 2 p.m., Cedar Creek and Homer will play at 4 p.m., Farmerville takes on Evangel at 6 p.m. and Ruston and Loyola College Prep cap things off at 8 p.m.
Tickets to catch all five of these exciting matchups are just $7 in advance and $10 at the gate on game day. Tickets are available at the school, Minden Athletic and at the KASO radio station.
Glenbrook is coming off a week one 26-14 win over Riverdale, but this week's game could prove to be an even tougher match-up, as the Apaches take on the Riverfield Raiders in Rayville.
"I've told the kids that Riverfield is probably the favorite in the district," Glenbrook head coach Ryan Porter said. "The winner of this game could very well win district."
Game time is 7 p.m.
Lakeside and North Webster will also be in action Friday night, as they both take part in the Lakeside Jamboree.
Lakeside and Rayville will kick things off at 6:30 p.m. and Rayville versus North Webster will follow. Lakeside and North Webster will play each other in the nightcap.
