Crimson Tide to host their annual tournament beginning Thursday
The Minden High Crimson Tide went 2-2 in the Parkway Tournament, as they opened their 2013 baseball season.
After losing 1-0 to Haughton on Thursday and 7-7 to Parkway Friday night, the Tide went 2-0 on Saturday.
In the first game on Saturday, the Tide beat Captain Shreve, 6-3. Chase Toland won his first game of the season as he pitched a complete game victory for the Tide. Toland scattered six hits and only walked two.
Toland was backed by an outstanding Tide defense and eight hits by the offense. McCaul Lacobee, Mikey James and Austin Sumner all turned in two hits, and Turner Francis belted a double.
In the 4 p.m. game, the Tide pounded the Haughton Bucs, 14-5, at Haughton.
Caleb Jones entered the game early in relief of an injured start pitcher, and then proceeded to dominate for six innings, winning his first game of the year.
Hutton Leppert led the way at the plate, with a two-for-four day with four RBIs. His big hit was a long three-run home run. Thomas Pevy went two-for-two with a pair of sac bunts, and Corey DeMoss went two-for-four. Lacobee, Jones and Carson Bolyer also added base hits.
The Tide will travel to Loyola on Tuesday and then will host their annual Minden High Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
