Fire District 5 rates go down

Residential and commercial property owners in the Sarepta area can expect a drop in their fire insurance rates thanks to the efforts of their fire district.

The Louisiana Department of Insurance recently announced the improvement of Sarepta Fire District 5 from Class 5 to Class 4 rating.

Effective December 12, homeowners in District 5, "can expect significant rate reductions in their fire insurance premiums," said Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon.

Donelon commended firefighters and local officials for the improvement of their fire protection grading.
