Funeral services for Elizabeth Ambrose will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at 4 p.m. Rusty Gilbert her nephew, will conduct the service. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time Thursday.
Elizabeth was born June 12, 1915 in Shongaloo and died Tuesday Sept. 27, 2011 at the Arbor in Minden where she lived for the past 10 years.
Elizabeth was an RN and had worked at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, Minden Hospital, LA Ordnance Plant, and had retired from International Paper Company in Springhill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; her parents, Arthur Preston and Edna Matthews Gilbert; her brothers, Horace, Harold, Huies, James (Buddy) and Byron (Tap) Gilbert and her sisters, Helen Sanders and Kathryn Thomas.
She is survived by her son, Darcy; her grandchildren, Mark and wife, Terry, Steve and wife, Lynn, David and wife, Cathy, Regina and husband, Brad, Phillip and wife Katie, Cecil and wife, Kay; along with 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Nell Harlan and Ysleta Kranz and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her grandsons will be pallbearers.
The family would like to thank a special angel, Rosie Peterson for the excellent care she received the last two years.
