A first-time car show planned for Saturday is expected to bring in big bucks to help children cruise to better health.
Kruisin for Kids will be held Saturday, August 13 at Pine Plaza Shopping Center on U.S. Hwy. 371 in Springhill. Registration is from 7 until 10 a.m., with an awards presentation set for 2 p.m. Hayden Holtzclaw will provide entertainment from 1 until 2 p.m.
It is an antique and custom auto show and all cars, trucks and bikes are welcome.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital, (ACH) which, according to a spokesperson, is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the country with nearly 2,000 children treated there each year.
“ACH is an internationally-recognized leader in pediatric biomedical research, with one of the most experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the country and largest in the area with 80 beds,” said Larry Green.
The hospital has reportedly raised the NICU survival rate from 72 percent to 96 percent for infants born weighing less than one pound.
Green said it is the first hospital to offer EMCO, an in-flight, heart-lung bypass machine.
Funds will also help ACH as it offers free meals, showers and laundry services to the children’s families.
