"And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd." Matthew 9:36 NASB
As Jesus went about His normal everyday routine, going from town to town, He saw a hurting and depressed people and felt a deep concern for their well-being. Instead of being oblivious to the multitudes around Him, He took note of their condition. He saw that they were "distressed and downcast."
