Webster Parish students will have many services available to them at the Third Annual Back to School Bash, to be held Monday, August 8 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
"The Minden Civic Center will be the place to be for all Webster Parish students with lots of fun, information, snacks, treats, free school supplies, free haircuts, free medical screenings and much more," said Ursula Hullaby, team member for the "Back to School Bash" program.
According to Hullaby, the first 250 students to register will be given a free "We Are Better Together" 2011-2012 Back to School Bash tee shirt.
"The outpouring support for this year's back to school bash is evident that we are 'Better Together'," Hullaby said. "Community sponsors have been overwhelmingly generous and strongly encourage parents to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to receive all the resources that their student needs to have a successful start to school."
Free raffles will be held throughout the day with prizes such as gift certificates for school uniforms, Wal-Mart gift cards, loaded back packs and much more.
"One highlight of the day's events will be the raffling of a brand new laptop, compliments of local State Farm Agent Rodney Welch," Hullaby said.
The laptop raffle will be held at noon and to be eligible for this drawing students must be present to win and have visited their school table and three additional community resource tables.
There will be sack lunches available and principals will be on-site to meet and greet their students.
"We encourage the students to come and enjoy the activities that have been planned," Hullaby said, noting students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
