Completing a busy week, the Glenbrook Apache netters ended their regular season Wednesday with a 4-4 tie with the River Oaks Mustangs.
Both teams will be preparing for the South AA Tournament, schedule for next week in Brookhaven, MS.
“We played our divisional matches as well as several other ‘mixed’ match-ups so that younger players from both schools could ‘taste the competitive nature of the game,’” Glenbrook coach Wayne Orr said. “We have experienced a good season, not from the standpoint of wins and losses, but from the maturity of our veteran players and the growth of our younger players.”
At #1 Matthew Moorehead defeated Zaib Qayyum 6-0, 6-1. Noah Woodard played the #2 spot, defeating Tyler Boyd 6-4, 7-6 (7-5)
Laura Payne and Matthew Tucker teamed for another win over Austin McKinley and Abby Hicks 6-2, 6-1.
Lexie Martin was defeated by Katelyn Williams 6-1, 6-0. Madison Lemoine was defeated by Samantha Thurman 6-0, 6-2.
McKenzie Wren and Savannah Brown were defeated by Taylor Schwab and Rebecca Causey 6-1, 6-4. At the #2 position, Molly Turner and Morgan Wren were defeated by Jennifer Henry and Lindsey Duncan, 6-4, 6-1.
McKenzie Wren and Savannah Brown played River Oaks’ #2 boys team and fell 6-4, 6-2. Eleanor Gilbert and Ashley Rhame teamed for a 10-8 loss to Gentry Johnson and Kara Bryan in a pro-set. Abigal Gilbert and Allie Brown Wise lost 10-6 to Amber Griffin and Anna Rogers.
