A south Webster Parish woman is behind bars and her estranged husband is recovering after a weekend shooting.
Latrinna Louise McDaniel-Collins, 44, of the 800 block of Mason Felts Road, Heflin, was arrested Saturday and charged wtih attempted second degree murder.
According to reports from the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office, McDaniel-Collins called her husband, Howard Collins, and asked him to come to the residence and retrieve the couple's children.
McDaniel-Collins reportedly told Maj. Jay Hortman, Lt. Scott Tucker, Lt. Robert Booth and Dep. Tony Matteson that when Collins arrived at the residence, the two began arguing.
McDaniel said she produced her gun – a Cobra 380 – and fired at Collins. She struck him at least twice in the upper body.
Collins reportedly fled through the hallway to a bedroom. McDaniel said she chased him to the bedroom and fired five times through the door, saying she "emptied the clip into the door."
After that, the alleged shooter told deputies she fled the scene and threw the gun out of the window of her vehicle.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched following a 9-1-1 call from a neighbor's residence where Collins had gone after the shooting. He was transported by ambulance to LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He is expected to make a full recovery.
McDaniel-Collins was located at a residence on Edwards Road. The gun was recovered on Mason Felts Road.
