A Cotton Valley teen died Saturday after the church van in which he was riding experienced a blown out tire, causing it to roll over.
DPS Trooper Glenn Davenport says the van's left rear tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the highway.
The van rolled several times, ripping off the roof and ejecting eight passengers, killing Greenard. None were wearing seat belts.
Greenard and his Youth Director, Arnese Parish, of Mt. Sariah Baptist Church in Cotton Valley, were two of those ejected passengers.
Parish was pinned under the van. She survived, however, church members say she is paralyzed from the neck down.
Six others were hospitalized.
The church van crashed while returning from an East Texas water park.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened about 5 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 20 eastbound, about 12 miles northeast of Tyler.
