Stroke may be cause of 2-vehicle collision

Two Minden residents were transported to Minden Medical Center early Wednesday following a two-vehicle accident at the intersections of Lee, Main and Broadway. According to police reports, 60-year-old George Alexander was sitting unresponsive in the driver's seat of a 2008 Ford pick-up truck northbound on Lee Street, when Ofc. Justin Kemp tried to make contact with him.

Kemp reportedly called for emergency responders and attempted to access the vehicle when it accelerated disregarding the traffic control stop signs, crossing Broadway and striking the rear of a 2003 Dodge Neon driven by 26-year-old Cindy Jones. Alexander's truck then disregarded the second stop sign, crossing Main Street, entering the garage door of an abandoned business and making contact with a concrete wall at the back of the building. Jones' Neon completed a 180 degree turn with the rear striking the side glass of the business before stopping. MMC officials reportedly told Minden Police that Alexander possibly suffered a stroke prior to the incident. Jones was reportedly transported to MMC with minor injuries. No citations were issued.
