MMC participates in display honoring memory of donors
Minden Medical Center is giving the community a unique opportunity to honor the memory of a pair of organ donors whose donations saved the lives of those in need.
The lobby of the hospital will display a pair of "Florographs" Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The florographs are tributes to organ donors who have left positive impacts on their family, communities and those they helped. The viewing is open to the public.
In addition to displaying the florographs, Minden Medical Center is hosting the two families whose loved ones are being honored. From Minden, the florographs will travel to Pasadena where they will join others as part of the annual Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day.
A total of 72 organ, eye and tissue donors will be honored with floral memorial portraits that will grace the Donate Life float in the 2013 Rose Parade.
The 72 floragraphs will line the heart-shaped path rising above 32 riders aboard the float, themed Journeys of the Heart, which dramatizes the ups and downs experienced by donor families, transplant recipients and living donors.
Since 2004, the Donate Life Rose Parade Float has served as a memorial to organ and tissue donors and a platform for donor families, living donors and transplant recipients to inspire the world to save and heal those in need through the gift of life.
