Jindal appoints Irving to board

JOHN_IRVING075Governor Bobby Jindal has appointed John T. Irving, PE to Louisiana's Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, effective October 26.

Irving will serve a six-year term as the engineering practice classification representative from industry.

Irving earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1963 and obtained his Professional Engineering License in 1964.

Irving is currently employed by Cellxion Division of Sabre Industries, Inc. as Director of Engineering in Bossier City where he does structural design, structural calculations and code compliance.

During Irving's career, he has worked in the Aerospace Industry where he performed aircraft aerodynamic heating analyses and heat transfer analyses on booster rockets, for a manufacturing company where he designed production processes and assembly lines, for Western Electric where he was Manufacturing Engineer specifying plastic molding and die casting processes and was in private business for 25 years producing close tolerance injection molded plastic piece parts for the trade.

Irving is a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers and is a current board member of the Louisiana Tech Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council.

He maintains a record for NCEES and is currently registered as a Professional Engineer in 23 states and the District of Columbia.

Irving and his wife, Frances, love history and historical items and reside in the Designated Historical District in Minden where he has been a board member and past Chairman of the Minden Historical Residential District Commission.

They have two married daughters and five grandchildren. His hobby is collecting antique toy trains and he is also an avid Louisiana Tech football fan and has traveled with the Tech football team to out-of-town football games.
