Tickets on sale for 15 Under 40 event

Tickets are now on sale for the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual 15 Under 40 Awards hosted at the Minden Civic Center, 520 Broadway

The event will be held Tuesday, November 27 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, which include dinner and the awards ceremony, may be purchased for $20 at the chamber office, 110 Sibley Road.

Guest speaker for this event will be Dr. Melva Turner-Williams, Associate Dean of Centenary College in Shreveport.

Centenary is recognized as one of the most prestigious colleges in the south as it has been named one of the best liberal arts college in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and many other national publications.

Turner-Williams is an internationally-recognized young leader in academia and currently serves on numerous boards of director, including founding board member of the Shreveport Charter Foundation, which is building a state-of-the-art K-12 charter school in Shreveport.

Most recently she was named a 2010 Difference Maker for making a positive impact through education in her community.

The 15 Under 40 committee members for 2012 are Jerri de Pingre', Angelique Feaster Evans, Sarah Haynes, Trasheda Oliver and Tonkon Williams.

The 15 Under 40 award was created to recognize the top young professionals in south Webster Parish, under the age of 40.

These individuals are successful emerging leaders who excel in their profession, devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and serve as a role model for other young professionals.
