Derrick Jackson, 38, of the 200 block of Camp Street has been arrested and charged with distributing crack cocaine.
“We’ve been working a lot on the Walter Lyons Road/ Camp Street area,” said Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper. “Since we’ve been doing that, we obtained two different warrants on Jackson for distribution of CDS Sch. II (crack) cocaine.”
Cropper said Thursday, Capt. Marvin Garrett, Lt. Dan Weaver, Det. Heath Balkom and Det. Chris Cheatham, along with Probation and Parole officer Amy Russell went to Jackson’s residence and arrested him on the warrants.
“He was on Probation and Parole, so once he was arrested, they put a hold on him,” Cropper said.
Jackson was booked at Minden Police Department and transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is being held on $70,000 bond.
“We’ve had problems with Jackson in the past,” Cropper said. “Apparently, he’s been putting a lot of crack cocaine out there, and we’re glad to get him off the streets.”
