A pair of scrap metal thieves found out stealing steel is no steal when it means a stay behind iron bars.
Delanio McCorvey, 20, of the 100 block of Robertson Drive and Delvon Morris, 17, of the 100 block of West Roosevelt were arrested Tuesday by Minden Police and charged with simple burglary.
"Sgt. Spencer Tippen and Ofc. Justin Kemp responded to a 'hostile burglary in progress' around 11:30 a.m.," said Chief Steve Cropper. "On the way, a suspect vehicle – a white Ford Explorer – was dispatched to them, and as they arrived near the scene, they were able to locate it."
The chief said McCorvey and Morris were in the vehicle.
"One of the men indicated his stepfather had given him permission to take scrap metal and clean up the place," Cropper said. "Officers contacted the stepfather and the owner of the garage. Both said they had McCorvey and Morris over there at one point to help them clean up the place, but they had never given them permission to reenter and remove anything."
The subjects reportedly removed a bulldozer track valued at around $2,200, in addition to miscellaneous scrap metal with unknown value.
The men were booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
