Webster Parish teams hit the road

Minden plays Thursday, Glenbrook has a bye

The Webster Parish football teams went 2-2 last week, with North Webster and Lakeside both winning, and Minden High and Glenbrook taking losses.

This week Glenbrook is off with a bye, and the other three parish teams are all on the road.

Minden High

First the bad news, the Minden Crimson Tide dropped to 0-5 with their loss to Ruston on Friday.

Now the good news, the Tide will begin District 1-4A play this week against the also 0-5 Fair Park Indians.

One thing is for sure, one team will leave Independence Stadium with its first win of the season.

The Tide's 0-5 record is somewhat deceiving, as their five opponents have a combined 19-6 record this year, with North DeSoto, Haughton and Parkway all 5-0.

Look for the Tide to add one to the win column this week.

The Lakeside Warriors broke a two-game losing streak, as they beat the Arcadia Hornets, 30-14, last Friday night.

This week the Warriors will play the last of their five-straight road games as they head to Monroe to take on the Sterlington Panthers.

Sterlington is 1-4 on the season, losing their first four games before beating Oak Grove, 18-14, last week.

The Warriors got running back Chris Lewis back on track against Arcadia, as he rushed for 208 yards and three touchdowns.

Look for plenty of carries for Lewis against the Panthers.

The Warriors will play at home next Friday night against Jonesboro-Hodge, which will make head coach Joey Pesses happy.

"It will be nice to be able to wear another color jersey for a change," he said with a laugh.

North Webster

The North Webster Knights won their third-straight game to improve to 3-2 overall.

The Knights are just three points away from being 4-1, and the combined record for the two teams they lost to is 7-3.

This week the Knights will travel to Shreveport to take on the 4-1 Calvary Baptist Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers will be a stiff challenge to the tough Knight defense. The Cavs are averaging 42 points per game this season.
