Warriors take third in boys'varsity division
SHREVEPORT — The Lakeside Warrior Cross-Country teams posted many impressive performances at the Calvary CC meet. Despite a muddy course and humid conditions fast times were recorded by the ladies and guys over the three-mile course.
In the boy's varsity division, Enrique Soto successfully defended his championship for the third straight year, running a season-best time of 15:25 to win the race by 15 seconds.
Senior James Taylor also had a season-best time of 16:36 for ninth place. Freshman Eric Greene had a season-best time of 16:48, good enough for 10th place.
Riley Smith chopped two minutes off his previous personal best time of 20:18, as he ran 18:18 for 24th place. Travis Walker also ran a season best, with a time of 19:47 for 50th place.
The top five Warriors scored 94 points which placed them third in the 15- team meet. The Warriors 6th runner, Ryan McFarland, placed 87th at 21:56.
West Monroe, a 5-A power, won the team title.
In the girls' varsity division, Alisa Lander ran her fastest time of the season at 20:18, which was good enough for a fifth place finish.
Heather Scheneck and Anna Davidson also had season-best times of 21:54 and 22:12 in finishing 12th and 13th respectively. Over 100 ladies and 15 teams participated in the varsity ladies race.
The Junior High Division consisted of a 1.5 mile loop of the course.
On the boys side, Lakeside's Cody Robison and Alex Robles battled for the title. Robinson won with a nice sprint at the end to finish just ahead of Robles. Robinson clocked a time of 8:56 while Robles was at 9:27.
Other finishers for the boys were Joseph Johnson (ninth at 9:54); J.R. Mueller (17th at 10:09); and Dylan Welch (20th at 10:29). Lakeside's total of 49 points won the boys Jr. High-JV Division.
The Junior High girls were lead by Katelyn Collier who finished fourth at 11:02. Nancy Silva finished eighth at 11:25 and Brooke Walker was 12th at 11:52.
The next action for the Lakeside cross country teams will be at the LSU Tiger Invite on Saturday, September 22nd in Baton Rouge. Soto will look to defend the 5K Title he won last year.
