Vera Mae (Bryant) Moody

Vera_Moody_photoVera Mae (Bryant) Moody, 57, of Sibley, made her transition from this earthly toil on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. She was a graduate of Doyline High School in 1972 and Grambling State University in 1975 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.

She was employed as an accountant at LSU Medical Center for more than 20 years and then later retired from the State of Louisiana. She was the owner of Bail Me Out Bail Bonds and a member of the Iota Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She was a member of Saint Mark Baptist Church in Doyline where she was choir president and treasurer. Vera was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, aunt, mentor and friend.

Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her husband, Dock Moody of Sibley; two daughters, Tamara "Tammy" Moody and Sherrica Moody, both of Sibley; a special niece, Mone' Bryant of Bossier City; two sisters, Carrie Carodine (Halven) of Minden and Sylvia Bryant of Doyline; two brothers, William Bryant, Jr. and John Bryant, both of Shreveport; god-sister, Connie Handy of Doyline; aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, William Mack "Bill" Bryant; her mother, Manda (Green) Bryant; and oldest brother, Roy Lee.

Open visitation for the public was held at Benevolent Funeral Home, 401 East Union Street, Minden, beginning at 9 a.m. today (Friday, August 10, 2012). Funeral service commenced at 11 a.m. at Saint Mark Baptist Church, 4549 Boothville Road, Doyline, with Pastor Melvin Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent in her memory to Rural Communities Empowerment Coalition, Inc., P.O. Box 5, Doyline, LA 71023.
