Brother Edmond "Pop" Webb was born March 5, 1927 to the late Odessa Scott and John "Captain" Wesley Webb in Minden.
He was married to Vera Matthew Webb in 1947. To that union, five daughters were born.
Bro. Webb was a man who always wore a smile and never ever met a stranger. Although he was not formally educated, he was given the unique gift of organization which was passed on to several of his daughters. He liked being punctual both with his schedules and his debts.
Bro. Webb leaves his endeared memories to the following persons: Evangelist Clorie "Fae" Dunking, Clemiteen Whiting and Dorothy Lewis (James), all of Minden; Susie "Head" Garner of Shreveport; Darlene Castille (John) of Tomball, Texas; one son, Robert "Dody" Gillis of Minden; three sisters, Willie Mae Cooper of Minden and Josephine Williams and Louanne Taylor of Dallas, Texas; two favorite nephews, Virgil Tibbs (Durlene) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Roy Tibbs (Dorothy) of Hampton, Virginia; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Growing Valley Baptist Church in Minden, with Dr. George Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Growing Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today (Friday, July 20) from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the Benevolent Funeral Home chapel.Subscribe to Read!
