Four Lakeside players honored by the District 2-2A coaches
SIBLEY — Four Lakeside Lady Warriors were recently honored by the coaches of District 2-2A with spots on the basketball All-District teams.
Shanae Collins was named Second Team All-District and Jessica Bridges, Tamera Douglas and Falon Miles were all named Honorable mention.
"I'm real proud of these girls," Lakeside head coach LaDarian Amos said. "These girls were the leaders of our team and I hope them making All-District will inspire our girls next year."
Shanae Collins, First Team All-District
"Shanae's work ethic is responsible for getting this honor," Amos said. "She was one of our leading scorers and led us in steals."
Amos said Collins was highly-thought of by the district coaches.
"They all liked her attitude and saw her as a work-horse," he said. "Her defense was something that certainly stood out to the coaches. She only missed First Team by a 1/2 a point and I hope that will give her an incentive to be First Team next year, and I know she can do it."
Falon Miles, Honorable Mention
"Falon is a senior and she contributed so much to our team this year," Amos said. "Her defense and her attitude were a big part of our success. Falon wants to play college ball and with her determination and hard work, I think she will."
Tamera Douglas, Honorable Mention
"Tamera is a very hard worker," Amos said. "A lot of people, not only coaches, saw her as a success this year. A lot of coaches asked about her. She constantly asks me how to get better, and as a coach I love that. That shows her determination and desire. I really think she'll be First Team next year. She has improved every year and expect her to be even better next year."
Amos also had praise for the parents of these three girls.
"I want to thank the parents because these girls were the most respectful kids I've ever coached," he said. "They never complained, they worked hard and that's the reason they were named to the All-District teams.
