NW Lady Knights begin season

SPRINGHILL — The North Webster Lady Knights began their 2012 season with a full slate of games last week.

Monday, the Lady Knights defeated Homer and Haynesville in the Haynesville Jamboree.

Tuesday they defeated Minden High, 12-2.

Catcher Alexis Kerry was the leading hitter going three-for-four. Blake Waldron and Jordan Griffin each had two hits. Lindsey Owens added a single.

Freshman Amberlee Nix was the winning pitcher, as she gave up just two hits while striking out eight.

Thursday the Lady Knights defeated Summerfield, 13-0.

Lexi Baker led the way with a three-for-three day and Cassie Thomas went two-for-two. Alexis Kerry and Amberlee Nix both had two hits.

Nix improved to 2-0 giving up two hits and striking out 12.

Friday, the Lady Knights fell to Haughton 12-6 in the Northwood Tournament.

Alexis Kerry led the team with three hits and Jordan Griffin added a base hit. Nix took the loss giving up 10 hits while striking out two.

Saturday morning North Webster lost to Northwood 6-3.

Saturday afternoon the Lady Knights defeated Southwood 15-4.

The Lady Knight bats came alive for 13 hits in the nightcap scoring six runs in the second inning, four in the third, three in the fifth, and two in the sixth.

Cassie Thomas went four-for-four with two singles, a double and a triple. Lexi Baker scored four runs and Alexis Kerry singled, doubled and tripled. Nix had two doubles and improved to 3-2 as she gave up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
