BENTON — The Minden High basketball teams dropped a pair of district games at Benton on Tuesday,
The Lady Tiders fell to the Lady Tigers, 69-50 and the Tide went into overtime before losing 48-45.
Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown saw a lot of good things in his team's loss.
"I thought we played pretty well," he said. "I thought offensively we were decent at being patient and getting open looks, but defensively we were not very good."
Minden jumped out early and built on their lead into the half.
"I thought early on, we did some good things but we missed a few easy shots," Brown said. "We also gave them too many second opportunities. We didn't rebound very well in the first quarter."
The Lady Tiders played well up until late in the second quarter when Benton went on a 15-6 run.
"I thought we did some good things in the first quarter and a half," Brown said. "But during Benton's run, we missed 10 free throws, and that hurt. When you have a chance to take an uncontested shot, you have to make it."
Brown made some adjustments at the half, and the Lady Tiders played it close in the final two quarters.
"We didn't correct all the mistakes we talked about at halftime," he said. "But when we look back at this game, it was that spurt late in the second quarter that hurt us. That three and half minutes really put us under the water. The last two quarters were neck and neck and somewhat even."
Miranda Fisher led the Lady Tiders with 22 points and 12 rebounds. JeCourtney Neloms had 14 points and Tyia Green had six points and five rebounds, Antavia Sterling added seven points.
Crimson Tide 45, Tigers 48 OT
The Crimson Tide trailed 33-30 going into the fourth quarter, but out-scored the Tigers 12-9 to force overtime. But Benton scored six of the nine points in the OT to take a 48-45 win.
Dominique Walker led Minden with 13 points and Tra Hawkins had 11.
The Tide dropped to 8-11 overall and 0-1 in district play.
