High school basketball season gets rolling


Bossier Invitational Tournament highlights girls games this week

The 2011-12 high school basketball season gets started in earnest this week, with all Webster Parish schools getting into the action.

Here's a look ahead to this week's games.

Tonight's games

Minden High will head to Sibley for three games with Lakeside High School.

The games will start at 5 p.m. with a junior varsity boys game, and then the varsity girls and varsity boys will follow.

The Glenbrook Apaches and Lady Apaches will host the Louisiana School of Math & Science in a pair of games, starting at approximately 6 p.m.

The North Webster Knights and Lady Knights will play at Farmerville.

Wednesday's games

Starting Wednesday, the Minden High Lady Tiders and Lakeside Lady Warriors will take part in the Bossier Federal Credit Union Lady Bearkat Invitational Tournament at Bossier High School.

The Lady Tiders will play the host Bossier Lady Bearkats at 7:15 p.m. in the main gym. If they win, they will play next on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. again in the main gym. If they lose, they will play Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the girls gym.

The Lady Warriors play at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday against Green Oaks in the girls gym. Win or lose, the Lady Warriors will play again on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. in either the girls gym or the main gym, depending on Wednesday's outcome.

The tournament will last through Saturday, with the championship game at 1 p.m.

Thursday's games

The Lakeside Warriors will take part in the Haughton Tournament with a 7:30 p.m. game with Parkway.

In addition to the aforementioned tournament games, the Doyline High School teams will be in action.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers will head to Ruston for a pair of varsity games with New Living Word.

It will be the fourth time this season that the two schools have played.
