Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy C. Penton, Sr., 60, will be held Saturday, November 12 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calm Baptist Church with the Rev. T. A. Knapp officiating. Interment will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Jimmy Carol Penton was born Dec. 16, 1950 in Minden to Willie Penton and Clara Bell Lockhart Penton. He was a graduate of Webster High School Class of 1969. He continued his educational pursuits at Grambling State University.
He united in holy matrimony to Delia Burton. To this union, two children were born.
Mr. Penton was employed by Kansas City Southern Railroad. He retired after 10 years working as brakeman and conductor.
Jimmy Cal will always be known for his famous Cajun Fried Turkeys. He was an avid LSU fan, enjoyed spending time with his kids, traveling with his family and fishing.
Jimmy Penton's love for children was evident in his dedication to coaching little league baseball at Ewell Park for many years. His passion for children was also demontrated through the many lives he and his wife impacted as foster parents.
Jimmy Cal Penton, Sr. departed this earthly life on November 6 in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Penton, Sr. and stepfather, W. D. Odom, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory and to continue his legacy of love, his devoted wife, Delia Burton Penton; son, Jimmy C. Penton, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Kimberly Penton Jones (Jerame) of Shreveport; mother, C. B. Odom of Minden; stepmother, ArLillian Penton of Minden; six brothers, Vernell Odom of Long Beach, California, Aldrick Penton, Sr. (Pamela) of Minden, Wilbur Dale Odom (Crevonne) of Shreveport, Willie Jim Penton, Jr. (Felicia), Brainard Odom (Toni), and Kenneth Lane Penton, Sr. (Mary), all of Minden; two sisters, Karen Penton and Shay Penton, both of Minden; six grandchildren, JaTorie Watson, Jimmy Penton, III., Jamal Penton, Jaleel Penton, Jaiden Jones, and Brianna Richie; the many foster children he reared as his own children; three aunts, Gloria Green, Vernell O'Neal (Joe), and Christola Walton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
