Michael R. Parks, 55. of the 600 block of Ceasar Street in Ringgold, has been charged with possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Sch. I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Sch. II (powder cocaine) with intent to distribute and possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute.
Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said Dep. Bobby Igo III, Dep. Joel Thomas and Capt. Robert Hayden worked the arrest.
"The deputies clocked Parks traveling 68 miles per hour (mph) in a 55 mph zone and instigated a traffic stop," Sexton said. "They said when they stopped him, he appeared to be extremely nervous and was shaking."
Deputies reportedly asked Parks if he had any weapons on his person.
"When he said 'no,' they asked him to empty his pockets," Sexton said. "He complied and one of the deputies observed an object in his left front pocket. When asked about it, Parks tensed up and backed away from the officer."
Sexton said deputies then placed Parks in handcuffs and asked him what was in his pocket.
"Parks told the deputy it was marijuana, and the deputy retrieved it," Sexton said. "Parks then gave deputies consent to search his vehicle. Inside the console, Dep. Thomas located two baggies of suspected marijuana, $1,500, $1,300, baggies with suspected methamphetamine and two baggies of suspected powder cocaine."
The sheriff said Parks had $200 in his wallet.
