Three arrested on theft, drug charges

Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies and Minden Police detectives solved a string of burglaries with the arrest of two Minden men and a Shreveport woman.

Robert Thomas Yocum, III (Trey), 33, and Stephen Alvin Garland (Clyde), 40, both of the 1500 block of Shreveport Road, have been charged with simple burglary, possession of CDS Sch. II (Methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of stolen things (over $2,000), illegally supplying a felon with ammunition and theft of utilities.

Shelby Lynn Williams, 21, of the 300 block of Haynes Avenue in Shreveport, was charged with illegal possession of stolen things, possession of CDS Sch. II (Methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Gary Sexton said the joint task force of agents executed a search warrant at the Shreveport Road residence where they found Yocum, Garland and Williams.

"During the search, officers discovered items from several burglaries in the parish," Sexton said. "Garland and Yocum are both convicted felons with weapons, drug charges and burglary in their criminal histories."

According to Sexton, officers recovered three large flat screen televisions, a case of watches and miscellaneous items stolen from a Doyline residence.

They recovered fishing reels, a computer and power tools from a Middle Road location.

"There was ammunition, home-made masks and four pellet guns that appear to be real," Sexton said. "Officers also found Methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, including smoking devices, scales and baggies used in he sale of CDS Sch. II."

And if that wasn't enough, Sexton said the subjects had placed jumpers in the light meter and were stealing electricity from the city.

"They also had a stolen generator hooked in to the home wiring that would be capable of backfeeding into the power grid that could have placed a city line man in danger if they were working on that grid," said the sheriff.

Working the case were sheriff's detectives Lt. Scott Tucker and Capt. Dustin Reynolds, Capt. Robert Hayden, Community Action Patrol deputies Joel Thomas and Bobby Igo III and Maj. Jay Hortman.

Minden Police Lt. Dan Weaver and detectives Sgt. Heath Balkom and Sgt. Chris Cheatham were also part of the team that solved the burglaries.ꆱ
