A Cotton Valley woman was arrested by Bossier Parish deputies Monday for stealing a blank check from another person and then cashing the check without the victim's authorization.
After forging the victim's name, she then used the victim's checking account to pay her utility bill.
Abbrra L. Lathen, 23, of the 1200 block of Emma Cemetery Rd. in Cotton Valley, admitted to deputies she stole a blank check from the victim and then cashed the check with the forged signature on August 22, taking $470 cash from the victim's checking account.
Lathan also admitted to using the victim's checking account information and bank routing number to pay her electric bill over the telephone, charging $58.62 to the victim's account without the person's knowledge or authorization.
Lathen was charged with forgery and unauthorized use of an access card as theft.
She was also arrested on a separate outstanding warrant through the 26th Judicial District Court and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility; her bond is set at $30,050.
